After floating in space for 57 years, Lt. Ripley's shuttle is found by a deep space salvage team. When Ripley wakes up, she is informed that planet LV-426 has been colonised, and now a rescue mission has to be sent as communications with the planet has been lost. Upon arriving on LV-426, the marines find only one survivor, a nine year old girl named Newt.
